Transports Bear Flag While Yields Keep Rising
Dow Transports look bear-flaggy after a weekly-close all-time high.
Transports printed a new weekly-close all-time high, then a bearish engulfing, and now look like a bear flag. If the flag breaks, the first target is the rising trendline below. Bulls would need to negate the flag and re-challenge the breakdown line above to restore the prior breakout setup.
| Instrument | Side | Target | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| IYT | Short | A weekly-close all-time high followed by a bearish engulfing and a developing bear flag puts first downside at the rising channel floor, then the untested trendline below if that floor is lost on a weekly close. |
Rising global yields have not yet been priced by equities, leaving duration as the cleaner short.
The 10-year yield broke out of a cup-and-handle while rates rose across the world, a potentially troublesome setup that equities are still ignoring. Long-duration Treasuries retain a lower bias inside a choppy larger range.
| Instrument | Side | Target | Reason |

| TLT | Short | Long-duration Treasuries keep a downward bias while the 10-year yield has already broken out. Equities have not reacted yet, so bonds remain the cleaner way to express higher-for-longer rates. |
